Advantages

The slightly thicker carrier material allows this paper to be produced in horseshoe-shaped strips. This stamped paper is easily applied to the tooth surface and does not require special fixation forks or tweezers.
All types of horseshoe strips come in a plastic dispenser from which you can remove the paper with one hand.
Horseshoe strips are especially useful for patients whose temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pathology causes the antagonists of only one side to touch when the teeth close. The doctor can immediately identify which side is preferred during chewing.
When performing occlusal testing of general removable dentures, especially those fitted according to the concept of bilaterally balanced occlusion, it is desirable to obtain impressions of equal intensity at all contact points. The requirement for equal impression intensity at contact points throughout the entire dental arch is an absolutely essential condition for the proper fitting of bite splints (Michigan splints).
