Sp-Block is a spongy block with collagen.

An exclusive technology for producing equine cancellous bone blocks prevents the ceramization of hydroxyapatite crystals, thereby reducing the physiological resorption time of the material. Sp-Block promotes new bone formation. Due to its rigidity, it maintains volume well. This is essential for bone regeneration in large defects. The collagen contained in the product promotes blood clot formation and the penetration of tissue-building cells into the augmented material. Bone restoration in the defect area follows a pattern of complete healing (restitutio ad integrum).

To ensure maximum contact with the receiving bed, the cortex must be removed. The block must be secured with osteosynthesis screws and covered with a resorbable membrane (Evolution).

CLINICAL INDICATIONS REVIEW

The use of autogenous blocks for the rehabilitation of horizontal or vertical alveolar ridge defects is considered the "gold standard." These blocks can be taken from the patient's intraoral or extraoral sites and placed using two main methods: onlay and inlay.

The consequences of autologous block collection are known: postoperative trauma and pain in the donor site.

Numerous studies demonstrate the effectiveness of ridge restoration with significant horizontal and vertical resorption using screw-reinforced xenogeneic blocks. The Sp-Block series is designed for vertical restoration of the mandible using the inlay technique, while the DualBlock line is used for horizontal augmentation of the resorbed mandible.

Regardless of the technique, there are areas where it is necessary to add biomaterial granules to achieve the required volume of osteoplastic surgery.
